Jesus gave us a simple but powerful principle:
“You will know them by their fruits.”
— Matthew 7:16 (NASB 1995)
Fruit reveals something about its source.
Jesus spoke these words in the context of recognizing false prophets. He warned that appearances alone could be misleading and directed attention toward what a life actually produces.
That principle calls for discernment.
Words matter, but words alone are not fruit.
Promises are not fruit.
Potential is not fruit.
Intentions are not fruit.
We look at what is consistently being produced.
Is there honesty?
Faithfulness?
Humility?
Obedience?
Love?
Self-control?
Does someone's life consistently support what their words claim?
And we should be willing to examine our own lives with that same seriousness.
What is being produced by what we believe and practice?
If God's truth is increasingly shaping us, there should eventually be evidence.
Not instant perfection.
Not flawless behavior.
But fruit.
Transformation becomes more than something we say has happened.
Over time, it becomes something that can be seen.
Truth To Carry Forward:
Don't evaluate transformation by words alone. Pay attention to the fruit a life consistently produces.
