Everyone has an opinion about what is true.
Culture has one.
Your emotions may have another.
Your experiences can shape another.
People you love and respect may offer still another.
But for the Christian, truth is not ultimately determined by consensus, preference, experience, or emotion.
God's Word is the final authority.
That matters tremendously during renewal.
Because if Scripture only confirms what we already believe, it never gets to correct us.
Renewing the mind requires approaching God's Word with humility:
If what I believe disagrees with what God has said, I am the one who needs to change.
That isn't always comfortable.
Scripture may challenge beliefs you've held for years. It may confront cultural messages you've accepted. It may correct the way you interpret relationships, identity, forgiveness, obedience, love, boundaries, or trust.
But God's correction is not something to fear.
Truth brings us back into alignment with Him.
We don't reshape Scripture until it fits our preferred reality.
We allow Scripture to reshape us.
Truth To Carry Forward:
God's Word does not adjust itself to our beliefs. Our beliefs must be brought into agreement with God's Word.
