Renewal is more than learning new information.
God's truth changes us.
Jesus prayed for His disciples:
“Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.”
— John 17:17 (NASB 1995)
Those final four words establish something essential:
Your word is truth.
Not a truth among many.
Not truth only when it agrees with our experience.
Not truth when it feels comfortable.
God's Word is truth.
And Jesus connects that truth with sanctification—the work of being set apart and increasingly shaped according to God's purposes.
That means Scripture isn't merely something we read for encouragement.
It teaches.
Corrects.
Exposes.
Reorients.
Transforms.
There will be times when God's Word comforts you and times when it confronts you.
Both are gifts.
If we only accept the portions that affirm what we already think, we're not allowing Scripture to renew us.
Approach God's Word with a teachable heart.
Ask Him to reveal where your thinking needs correction.
Then be willing to exchange what you've believed for what He says is true.
That's where renewal becomes transformation.
Truth To Carry Forward:
God's Word doesn't merely inform us. His truth changes us.
