God’s faithfulness is not always obvious while you are living through a difficult season. Sometimes you recognize what He was doing only after enough time has passed for you to look back with clearer eyes.
When you first remember a painful season, your attention may return to what hurt, what ended, or what did not happen as you hoped. Those experiences mattered, but they may have prevented you from noticing the quieter ways God was caring for you at the same time.
Pain teaches you to focus on what is missing.
You remember the answer that did not come.
You remember the person who did not stay.
You remember the opportunity that did not work out.
You remember the prayer that seemed to go unanswered.
What you may not remember as quickly is the strength God provided each morning, the person He sent at the right moment, the door He closed for your protection, or the truth He used to keep you from returning to an unhealthy place.
God’s faithfulness is often revealed through ordinary moments.
It may have looked like enough peace to make one difficult decision.
It may have been the courage to establish a boundary.
It may have been provision that arrived just when you needed it.
It may have been the growing realization that you could no longer continue living from the same wound, fear, or false belief.
At the time, those moments may not have felt significant. You were concentrating on getting through the day. You could not yet see that God was quietly leading you toward healing.
You may have mistaken His protection for rejection.
You may have interpreted His redirection as disappointment.
You may have believed His silence meant He was absent.
Yet God was working in ways you did not have the perspective to recognize.
“Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life.” — Psalm 23:6
God’s goodness did not begin after the difficult season ended. It followed you through the middle of it.
His presence was there when you cried.
His wisdom was there when you did not know what to do.
His grace was there when you made mistakes.
His strength was there when you believed you had nothing left.
Looking back with God allows you to see more than what was lost. It gives you the opportunity to recognize what He preserved, what He taught you, and how He carried you when you could not carry yourself.
This does not require you to call something good that was harmful. God does not ask you to deny your pain. He invites you to recognize that pain never had the power to stop His faithfulness.
Ask Him to show you what you missed at the time.
Where did He protect you?
How did He provide for you?
What truth did He teach you?
What strength exists in you now that was not there before?
The answers may not explain everything, but they can help you recognize that you were never walking alone.
What felt like an empty place may hold evidence of His care. What looked like an ending may have been the beginning of His redirection. What seemed like a delay may have given Him time to prepare you for what came next.
You may not have recognized His hand then, but you can acknowledge it now.
Truth To Carry Forward
God was faithful in ways I could not recognize at the time, and I can trust Him to remain faithful now.
