When life feels unsettled, we naturally focus on everything that is moving.
But there may be a more important question:
What is being revealed because things are moving?
Sometimes instability exposes where we've placed our security.
A relationship changes, and we discover how much of our identity depended upon it.
A plan falls apart, and we recognize how tightly we were holding our preferred outcome.
Approval disappears, and we discover how much we depended on other people's opinions.
Something familiar changes, and we realize how much safety we found in predictability.
Not every difficult circumstance means God is personally dismantling something. But He can use unstable circumstances to reveal what we have built upon.
So instead of responding only to what is happening around you, ask Him:
What are You showing me about what I've been trusting?
What remains true even while everything else feels uncertain?
God's work isn't always immediately obvious.
Sometimes we recognize it first by noticing what can no longer support the weight we placed upon it.
